Pahalgam: Sri Amarnath Ji

Amarnath is Hindu Cave temple in Ananthnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The cave is surrounded by glaciers and open for a brief period during summer for the pilgrims. It is situated at an altitude of 12, 756 feet. It can be reached from either Pahalgam or Sonamarg. The lingan formed inside the cave is an icy structure formed due to the freezing of water drops that fall from the roof of the cave onto the floor, resulting in an upward growth of an ice formation. More than 5 lakhs pilgrims visit here every

year.
